The Fair Experts has emerged from the Matexpo trade fair, organized since 1946, thus being one of the oldest trade fairs in Belgium. However, in recent years the organisation behind Matexpo has expressed its ambition to accelerate its growth and to diversify its activities. Without making hasty decisions. Each new project undergoes a thorough analysis in order to reveal its potential.
Is there an actual need among future visitors and exhibitors?
Is the market sufficiently big enough? In otjer words: is the demand realistic?
Only if the answers are positive, a project can turn into a new trade fair.
Did you know that the name The Fair experts wasn’t chosen randomly? Not only are we experts in organizing fairs, we also want to organize these fairs in an open and fair manner.
Mission Statement
We are an (inter-)national professional event and trade fair organizer, active in all possible industries. We guarantee our exhibitors and visitors an innovative fair where new contacts can be established from which business can be generated. A fair that is efficiently organized and that aims at maximum satisfaction among exhibitors and visitors.
We advise exhibitors on the best possible concepts per fair. An open and direct contact with exhibitors is important and we will go out of our ways to get the right target group to visit the fair.
We take the latest trends and tendencies into account and work at setting up new, innovative, inspiring and profitable events supported by the market.
Internal entrepreneurship is stimulated in order for The Fair Experts to remain a leader in its markets.

History
- 1946: first edition of ‘Harelbeekse Bouwbeurs’, an initiative by local construction companies and the Harelbelke city council with the purpose of supporting the reconstruction after WWII
- 1947: the name ‘Internationale Bouwbeurs’ is launched
- 1969: the fair moves to ‘Hallen van Kortrijk’ in order to sustain its growth
- 1973: name changes to ‘Internationale Bouwbeurs en Houtexpo’
- 1975: introduction of the name Matexpo: ‘Internationale Bouwbeurs en Matexpo’
- 1985: the name of the fair is limited to ‘Matexpo’
- 1995: Matexpo becomes a private company
- 2013: the organization of the first ‘Demo Zone’ adjacent to the fair
- 2017: strategic exercise by the Board and staff about the further development of the company
- 2018: first edition of ‘Demo Days’, a Matexpo spin-off, in Braine l’Alleud
- 2019: Matexpo becomes The Fair Experts, all fairs become subsidiaries under the new name
- 2019: first edition of We Are Real Estate in Brussels
- 2020: first edition of Techni-Mat, in partnership with Infratech (The Netherlands)
